I rarely do fashioney posts but I do like to keep my eye on what is happening at the various fashion weeks throughout the year. I do fantasize about dolling my creatures up in a bit of Preen or Kenzo although I don’t have the skills to recreate the outfits and perhaps that would be a little too Fifi Lapin. Preen’s Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection makes me sigh a little, so girly, the colours, yum, like macaroons!

All of the above a diversionary tactic, I’m beginning a class on Monday and I’m nervous already, not a course to be undertaken with shaky hands-boo.

Oh look, super yummy, new T-shirts from Caitlin Shearer over at Pepperminte. If you love Caitlin’s prints you will definitely want to wear these illustrations on your chest all day long. I particularly like The Bleeding Knees Club tee shown above.

Time for me to come over all flag waving as LL&O celebrates the work of four UK based designers. Well, three designers and one national institution, pattern design heaven!

Susie Cowie is a London based freelance embroidery designer & recent graduate of The Glasgow School of Art. I am in awe of her work, it transports me to a beautiful place, a fairy tale world of spun silver and tiny, tiny spider web stitches!

The Liberty print is enjoying a resurgence this summer, watch as the world blooms with florals. I particularly like the collections from APC & Cacharel.

Hand drawn & painted prints from Swash, the Botanica Psychedelia collection is inspired by natural history. Butterflies, bugs, squirrels and birds, very fine indeed.

Lisa Stickley runs a boutique and online store from her base in London. I am such a fan of her quintessentially English printed textiles and home wares.

Libertine design the kind of clothes I would love to wear but I know they wouldn’t suit me, I’m a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, big bum and boobs, frills and flounces are a big no, no! I really like the mix of styles and sources of inspiration here. Skull prints seem to be popping up all over the place at the moment, Topshop carry more accessible versions of this print. I will have to wait for autumn, I can do beautiful, big coats!

Oh and Libertine have collaborated on some plush too! I love these crazy, hybrid pandas. It would be fun to try something similar…hmm!

And for Autumn/Winter 09/10 some seriously lovely coats, roll on winter, I never know how to dress for warm weather but frosty is a dream for me!

I love sneak peeks, especially when they involve super fancy pants clothes from Makool. If you care for a preview head on over to the Makool collections site, ultra dreamy! Thank goodness that the model above has my current leg colour, I am embracing the lily-white, post-winter leg show, I don’t tan!

I adore hats but they don’t suit me, my little noggin freezes in the winter as a result. If I could get one of these Red Riding Hood hoods in a tiny size my boy would do the bonnet honours for me, luckily Ishi looks charming in chapeaux!

That bicycle is a delight and as for that blouse…!

I realized this week that I have taken a trip in a time machine, sartorially speaking, back to 1986! Breton shirt, denim shorts, thick wool tights, oversize cardigan, dark blue Converse. I am wearing the same ‘uniform’ I rigged myself out in when I was 16 & it feels so very ‘me’! I just can’t do super groomed, elegant, ultra-feminine. If I could (and had a large trust fund or similar) I would be beating down the doors of Kenzo to get my paws on the Autumn/winter 09/10 collection.

Folkloric, flowers, foliage, babushka, cossack style. The most beautifully tailored coats, patchwork smocks. Ok, I need the smelling salts, swoon!

Antonio Marras’ collection reminded me of an illustration I saw a while ago over at Flickr by Kitty Vane.

Just gorgeous! I am sending out a plea for an Astulabee, Kitty Vane, Le Train Fantome adult apparel line with knitwear and jewelry by Resurrection Fern, styling and illustrated detailing by Hibou Caillou Chou, so very ‘now’ kittens!
